We welcome monks and monks-to-be to experience monastic life in our community, to learn and practice the Dhamma-Vinaya, to undergo monastic training, and to grow spiritually towards freedom from suffering.
The Saṅghanāyaka of SBS Monk Training Centre
With the arrival of Bhante Ariyadhammika in 2018, monastic training at SBS was elevated to a completely new level. Firstly, because Bhante made the acceptance of his present position at SBS dependent upon the SBS Management Committee’s agreeing to allow non-Malaysian monks & postulants to reside at our monastery. The Committee gave its approval and also sorted out initial uncertainties with regards to visa matters for foreign monks. Secondly, because Bhante Ariyadhammika regards monastic learning as a lifelong process, and not as something that ends after five years of monkhood (which only marks the end of the Vinaya-requirement to stay with a qualified teacher), monastic training at SBS now has a much wider scope than what is available at most other monasteries.
